Investor Academy Results

We are pleased to say the Investor Academy held on the 29th June at Wright Hassall Solicitors was a great success! The session on EIS and implications resulting from the budget generated a lively discussion. Cost effective legal assistance at point of completion was covered and Wright Hassall supplied examples of standard completion documents. Two "serial" investors shared their stories of success.....and failures....and each mentioned that the number one reason for a failed investment was lack of communication with the investee company. CEBA talked about the bespoke Post Funding programe we run to prevent this from happening and offered this support to the investors present. CEBA also provided information on our 16 current opportunites. If you would like any information emailed to you from this event please let us know.

Business Angels and the Budget

The budget, as it affects Business Angel investing, is basically good news. Though the increase of CGT to 28% for higher rate tax payers is not in itself good news, it does continue to support investment into EIS qualifying companies.  In addition, maintaining the 10% CGT for Entrepreneurs and extending it to £5M of qualifying gains encourages Entrepreneurs to add value within the business, which is exactly what Business Angels want. NIC relief for early stage companies located outside of London and the South East is great news for new business start-ups within the Midlands.   All things considered, Business Angel investing should continue to be robust.  The Investor Academy we are holding on the 29th June will cover all aspects of Business Angel investing, includind EIS Tax Relief, Deal Structure, co-Investment, how to choose a company, and more. If you would like to attend please leet us know before the 25thn June by contacting David Clark, david@cebangels.com
